EFA Picture Inline

The imaging system directly in the line

EFA Picture Inline

Inspection before soldering – directly after the placement machine, where errors can occur. Image capture starts automatically by barcode, and corrections are made directly on the conveyor.

Inspection before soldering ..

Pre-reflow AOI for the moments with potential for errors: after the first article and a restart, placement errors mainly occur when someone intervenes at the placement machine – for example during a reel change. EFA Picture Inline inspects at exactly these moments, directly after the placement machine and before the reflow oven.

  1. Placement machinecomponents placed, not yet soldered
  2. EFA Picture Inlinepre-reflow AOI – correct errors directly on the conveyor
  3. Reflow ovenafter that, every correction becomes costly

Errors as early as possible

The earlier a misplaced component is detected, the cheaper the correction. Once the components are soldered – possibly hidden by larger components – rework becomes many times more expensive.

No carrying, no shifting

With the desktop unit, every PCB has to be carried there and back – unsoldered components can shift at the slightest knock. In the line, this handling is eliminated.

Connected to the line

If the inspection result is not OK, the PCB does not move on automatically.

With EFA AOI with AI, EFA SmartSuite automatically checks presence, orientation, offset, rotation, marking and colour bands – set up in a few minutes, from batch size 1.

How the inspection works ..

For first articles, initial runs and spot checks – in the automatic mode of EFA Capture.

1

Read the barcode

EFA Capture

The PCB is identified by its barcode – everything else runs without manual selection.

2

Capture

EFA Picture Inline with EFA Capture & EFA Stitch

Image capture starts automatically – your operator is called as soon as an inspection is due.

3

Inspect and approve

EFA SmartSuite

After a successful inspection, the PCB moves on automatically.

If there is an error: correct, capture again, approve – the PCB stays on the conveyor.

Correction directly on the conveyor ..

If the PCB is taken off the conveyor for correction, handling can introduce new errors – which is why it stays where it is.

  • Slides fully back: the unit can be pushed back completely – the operator can reach the PCB without restriction.
  • Correct and confirm: correct faulty components directly on the conveyor and confirm the placement with a new image.
  • If there are many errors, the PCB can alternatively be wiped and fed to the placement machine again.

Future-proof: your unit grows with you

When components get smaller, you simply replace the lens or camera yourself – the unit stays. This conserves resources, avoids electronic waste and eases your budget. How it works
